Course Overview

Embark on a transformative journey with APU University Malaysia Bachelor in Banking and Finance (Hons) with a specialism in Investment Analytics program. Explore a myriad of invaluable insights and skills, detailed below: In the first year, students in the banking and finance program will acquire fundamental skills essential for professionals in the field. They will develop a basic understanding of business management and finance, along with exposure to business and communication skills, accounting skills, and management skills. This level aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the core principles of banking and finance. Moving into the second year builds upon the foundation established in Level 1 and offers a broader range of skills and knowledge. Students will gain a better understanding of investment analysis and the management of investment risks. They will be introduced to tools and tests used in various financial markets through the use of Econometric software and trading platforms. Additionally, students will receive hands-on training in technologies that enable FinTech solutions, including Python programming and R-programming. During the 16-week internship or industrial training, this experience is designed to facilitate a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment. It provides students with practical exposure and real-world experience, preparing them for the demands of the banking and finance industry. In the third year, students will utilize their previous studies and industrial experience to delve into the practical aspects of risk management practices and theories, as well as explore the globalization of banking and finance in the context of Global Banking and Finance. They will also focus on the concepts and empirical applications of Technical Analysis and trading. The aim is to groom students as leaders in the field of investment and risk management. The final-year project will require students to explore a topic individually, allowing them to demonstrate their academic and practical abilities in their chosen area of study. Students who joined the Bachelor in Banking and Finance (Hons) with a specialism in Investment Analytics at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
