Course Overview

They will develop a basic understanding of computer systems, including computer architecture, operating systems, networks, and databases. Specialized modules will introduce them to web design and development. Alongside technical knowledge, students will also develop personal and organizational skills while fostering creativity and innovation. Moving into the second year, students will expand their skill set with a focus on frameworks and planning techniques for strategic management of computing resources in organizations. They will gain technical proficiency in evaluating, designing, configuring, and maintaining shared computing infrastructure. Additionally, they will learn about enterprise systems, network administration, virtual computing environments, and programming skills related to systems administration, network technologies, network design, and network security. The curriculum continues to emphasize nurturing creativity, innovation, and independent learning to prepare students for the workplace. In the third year, builds upon previous studies and industrial experience, with a specific focus on cloud computing. Students will extend their familiarity with this field and refine their personal and professional development. The curriculum will deepen their understanding of enterprise network components, settings, and methodologies, as well as introduce them to edge computing concepts and applications. The final year project will require students to investigate and develop a solution for a real-world problem, showcasing their ability to combine technical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills while producing a personal achievement portfolio. Students who joined Bachelor (Hons) in Information Technology with a specialism in Cloud Computing at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates & Transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
